Feeding & Nutrition

What puppy food do you use?
We highly recommend Hill’s Science Diet Small and Mini puppy food. It provides the optimal nutrition required for the healthy development of small-breed hybrids like the Golden Cavapoo.

What is the suggested feeding schedule?
To keep blood sugar levels stable and energy consistent, we feed our puppies three times daily:

  • 8:00 AM: Breakfast
  • 1:00 PM: Midday Snack
  • 6:00 PM: Dinner

Treats & Training

What treats are best for training?
For daily rewards, we use mini-size Milk-Bones. For health support, we love WAG Hip & Joint supplement treats (Chicken Flavor Soft Chews). These are great for training sessions and supporting growing joints.

How do I handle potty training?
Consistency is key! Take your puppy outside every 1.5 to 2 hours, especially immediately after meals and naps. We also recommend bell training—teaching your puppy to ring a bell by the door to signal when they need to go out. It’s a great way to improve communication and prevent accidents.

Health & Vaccinations

What is the vaccination timeline?
Your puppy will have their first round of Bordetella complete before coming home. You should:

  • Schedule the 2nd Bordetella shot and the next puppy series round at your first vet visit (within 72 hours).
  • Schedule the 3rd round 2-3 weeks after the second.
  • Consult your vet for flea, tick, and heartworm prevention options suitable for your area.

Do you recommend fecal testing?
Yes! While we worm our puppies regularly, a fecal test at your first vet visit is the best way to ensure they are 100% parasite-free as they grow.

Supplies & Setup

What pee pads and pens do you use?

  • Glad Brand Disposable Pads: We use the black carbon-activated version for superior odor control.
  • Washable Pads: Great for sustainability and heavy use.
  • Pad Holders: These keep pads in place and prevent puppies from dragging them.
  • Exercise Pens (Ex-Pens): We recommend an easy-to-assemble exercise pen for a safe, contained play area when you aren't directly supervising.
